The Switch Boss Growth journey.

Scott and Lockie founded Switch Boss in 2019, building on the success of an eBay brand they started in 2017. What began in a home garage quickly grew as demand increased, prompting a move into a dedicated warehouse and the start of building a real operational base.

Lockie stepped into the business full-time first, with Scott joining him the following year.

From that point on, with both brothers fully committed and working side-by-side, Switch Boss has experienced steady, consistent growth every year - expanding its product range, improving operations, and building a loyal customer and trade community.

Key growth points:

  • Sales: 7 figures, growing at 60% per year

  • FTE: went from 1 full-time equivalent team member in 2021, to 5 by the end of FY25

  • Funding: growth has been fueled from profits, with no debt or investors needed, and

  • Co-founders operational exit: the brothers are planning to move out of daily operations in the future.

The co-founders are serious about sustainable growth, through steadily building a strong team of A-Players and adding more systems and automations.

By late 2024, while the business had been growing sales nicely over recent years, the % of

net profit was not improving. Scott had a priority to lift that percentage, and knowing their numbers better was key to achieving this.

How else our Strategy Program helped Scott.

Working with Troy to put the 10 year financial model together, Scott needed to dive deeper into data and realised they weren’t across some critical figures.

This brought a greater focus on tracking the right numbers around the business, and having a scorecard to track the KPIs that will make the most difference to the business’ top and bottom line. Another highly impactful tool Scott took into the business from the Strategy Program was the Simple Quarterly Strategic Plan (SQSP).

The SQSP was pivotal in aligning the teams’ focus for the quarter, so they knew what the true priorities were, and what KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) the team had to hit.
